November 2011 Earnings Report

November was once again ok considering the hammering I took October 13th Total for the month was $689 bad for sure though not quite life threatening. I had a few expenses probably around $50 for hosting and renewals.

It’s now 6 weeks since 2 of my main earners were downgraded by google, and that has allowed me to look at a lot of things from many different angles. I have been listening and reading a lot and have found a few people who are doing very well in the same business as my self. Looking at what they have done has allowed me to see what I could do better. I have also tried to be brutally objective about my sites and slowly came to some truths.

  • First up has to be the quality of my sites, all things aside they are defiantly old school and in today’s market are less than average.
  • If I had of worked harder these last 18 months I still would have got hit. I would have still been more than ok financially though.
  • I have been on a pretty decent run for 5 years now, continual growth year over year with little to no effort.

So with these truths in mind the next question was, what next give up or carry on? This was pretty easy to figure out as I have no intention going back to a 9-5 any time soon. What I have resigned too is that to play in this business from now on out it is going to take a lot more work than in the past, and I’m ok with that I intend to take the same approach with this business as I have in all others before “give more, charge less than the average” Its a slam dunk each time. That’s it no magic or tricks just offer up more than is  required and all will work it’s self out.

I have had chance to create a  nice little script, and am in the process of redesigning one site. The goal is simple decrease bounce rate “give them something worth staying on the site for” duh!  this alone as a primary objective should increase income possibly doubling the number of visitors staying on the site, then throw in a small increase in ctr that equals a three fold increase in income. I believe simply focusing on how to keep the visitor on the site will solve all problems and even appease google in two ways, they dont like high bounce rates and reward low bounce rates, if your able to keep the people on the site you are more likely creating a decent site. Simple I know..

  2. Great blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m totally overwhelmed .. Any suggestions? Many thanks! sport and health

  3. You could definitely see your skills within the paintings you write. The world hopes for more passionate writers such as you who are not afraid to say how they believe. All the time go after your heart.
