May 2011 Earnings Report

Here is May’s breakdown this month did what May normally does for me, and that is fall off about 12% from April adsense earnings for May dropped to $734 this was about 18% better than May 2010 so all in all even with just a little effort I’m maintaining around 20% growth year over year. The downside of this is I know exactly were the 20% came from and its all from a little work I did in December on a single site therefore the rest of my sites are not doing that well many been down on last year.

Even though earnings as a whole are not magically growing at 50% -100% a year with no effort I have and am able to see quite a few glimmers of light, the first is that the advantage of posting this late enables me to take a peek at the next month June is running around 40% up on June 2010 this is promising and I know why! More next month.  I’m also getting modest month-to-month gains on the non-adsense front May jumped from $20 to $43 I got my first payment from an advertising source not a lot but $20 a month pays my electric bill here, a few more links and my normal single monthly sale on the goldfish site.

When I break down what I have done in the last year since leaving the USA “work wise” its not a lot about 4 weeks easy work on a few sites and this has produced an extra 20% a month or $150 per month, no big secrets the rest is holding fast “ok off a few percent” I have always said this business is a numbers game and the only way to succeed is to continually keep adding new stuff some of which will work but not all, this last years efforts have been easy to dissect and only reinforce my thoughts.

Based on the above working say an easy 10 months in a year my earnings are pretty much guaranteed to rise by around $750 per month per year. “Yep that’s not as big an increase as above”.

I’m now pretty much settled in Chiang Rai after a year or so searching for a place I could live decently in and stay within my means. What this actually boiled down to was finding a place, I Liked somewhere safe, some what western style accommodation.

Chiang Rai Studio
This is what $105 a month gets you

Good food “cheese & bread widely available” A nice office wasn’t a requisite but a whim.

A small corner at New Life Thai Foundation Chiang Rai
Swapped out for a few hours volunteering each week

Chuck in a pool for luck!

Pool at New Life Thai Foundation Chiang Rai
Relax after a hard days Volunteering

And a place were we all could communicate with each other, add in some peace and tranquility yet full access to all normal western things we take for granted, State of the art movie theater’s “English sound tracks” access to a mall with all the latest gadgets, oh yea has a couple of well known fast food joints for the occasional treat.

Mc donalds in Thailand
Eat rice for a week three times a day, you might want to go to Mc donalds in Thailand!

Not a lot to ask you might say? If your budget for all this is around $500 per month I can assure this is a lot to ask for!

As I have now accomplished the above It’s like a big old weight has been lifted and I’m now easily able to work on my sites and have been for a few weeks this is another glimmer of light as I know just plodding along will see things grow.

The eBay thing is doing ok and I will update in a month or so on that lastly after a friendly reminder from a friend “thanks Jim” I have decided to start adding a Friday round up each week!

  1. Awesome post! I love how you go into details and don’t hold back the real numbers. How long are you thinking of staying for?

    Safe travels,

    • Thanks Taigh as a friend reminded me it keeps me honest posting the facts each month and helps me keep a clearer picture. I’m planning on basing out of Chiang Rai for the foreseeable future. Even if I’m not here all year round I will maintain a base calling it home for now!

  2. Hi there this is kinda of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!

    • WordPress allows you to update either way, you can use the default WYSIWYG or you can switch to code view, allowing you to choose!
